Night Shift Liquid Assets

Night Shift is the pour for the hour when the house has gone quiet and you haven’t. Black-tea chai steeped into a cream-cocoa base, a cachaça-cinnamon warmth threaded through, chicory root grounding the bottom so it drinks darker than it looks. It’s a spiced cream chocolate built to be sipped slow in the dark. In hot milk it turns dusky tea-brown with a spiced edge, and it keeps you company without asking questions.

The Look: Dusky spiced-cream. The tin mix is a muted mid-cocoa flecked with tea and spice. As a melt bar, the chevron sets in matte milk-chocolate brown, chai and chicory dust caught in the valleys, a fine cinnamon line drawn along the ridges. In the cup it goes deep tea-brown.

Storage

Liquid Assets is a dry shelf product until you add heat. Keep the tin and the bars cool, dark, and sealed — a pantry at 60–70°F (16–21°C), away from the stove, away from a sunny window. Best within 12 months of the seal date. The tin re-seals; press it shut and the mix keeps its bloom. The chevron bars can wear a pale gray cocoa bloom if they warm up and re-set — that’s cocoa butter surfacing, not spoilage, and it melts out clean the second it hits hot milk. Once you’ve prepared a cup, drink it hot; it doesn’t keep and it won’t wait.

Sustainability

Matte cocoa tins are steel, refillable and endlessly recyclable. Melt-bar window boxes come from recycled paperboard, printed with soy-based inks, the window film compostable where the supplier offers it. Turquoise foil seals are food-grade and aluminum-free where sourced. Cocoa bought whole and ground in-house; dairy solids from regional partners; spices and nuts worked from raw, never bought pre-blended. No artificial colors. No high-fructose corn syrup. The color in the cup is cocoa, cream, fruit, or nut doing the work. Milk, cream, tea, spice; chicory is bulk-cheap and reads imported, cachaça in essence.
