Cold Case Liquid Assets

Cold Case is the cup that stays open. Stout-dark cacao with a cold peppermint edge cutting across it, black sesame sitting in the shadow, a smoked cacao nib for grit. Hot and cold in the same sip — the classic dark-mint pour with the temperature turned up on the chocolate and down on the mint. In hot milk it goes near-black with a frost of peppermint on top, the kind of drink you make when you’re not planning to sleep.

The Look: Black-frost. The tin mix is near-black flecked with mint-white. As a melt bar, the chevron sets in deep obsidian cocoa, crushed peppermint frosted white across the ridges and caught in the valleys, black-sesame flecks along the crown. In the cup it goes dark with a mint-white swirl.

Storage

Liquid Assets is a dry shelf product until you add heat. Keep the tin and the bars cool, dark, and sealed — a pantry at 60–70°F (16–21°C), away from the stove, away from a sunny window. Best within 12 months of the seal date. The tin re-seals; press it shut and the mix keeps its bloom. The chevron bars can wear a pale gray cocoa bloom if they warm up and re-set — that’s cocoa butter surfacing, not spoilage, and it melts out clean the second it hits hot milk. Once you’ve prepared a cup, drink it hot; it doesn’t keep and it won’t wait.

Sustainability

Matte cocoa tins are steel, refillable and endlessly recyclable. Melt-bar window boxes come from recycled paperboard, printed with soy-based inks, the window film compostable where the supplier offers it. Turquoise foil seals are food-grade and aluminum-free where sourced. Cocoa bought whole and ground in-house; dairy solids from regional partners; spices and nuts worked from raw, never bought pre-blended. No artificial colors. No high-fructose corn syrup. The color in the cup is cocoa, cream, fruit, or nut doing the work. Cocoa base, peppermint oil in trace drops. Theatrical flavor, dollar-store cost basis.

Dietary Information

Contains dairy and sesame. Alcohol-free — stout and bourbon are flavor notes from a malt reduction and a food-grade extract.
